Classical Avant-Garde and Historical Experimental Film in the Anniversary of Cinema
``Another retrospective in the anniversary'', some might say, but this review on a Cinema from the Below shows a concept that is different from the `usual' retrospectives: The film and video productions of this year's international program will meet around fifty examples of film avant-garde and classical experimental film in joint presentations, with the recent works providing the `theme'. The historical films have been chosen to complete this theme or to question it contrapuntally. The films cover a period of approximately 70 years, and the selection of abstract, absolute films which follow the tradition of cubists, surrealists and dadaists reaches from early works of computer art to action art and fluxus.
The complete festival film- and videoprogram is available via the Timetable.
