EMAF TOURING PROGRAMME 1997
The recent Tour-Programme of the European Media Art Festival for the first time presents for the first time films and videos from two festival-editions. The 9th E.M.A.F. took place In September 1996, because of organisational reasons the 10th Festival followed earlier in May 1997. Also 1998 the next European Media Art Festival will be in spring from the 6th to 11th of May.
From the international section of the festival we compiled two representative and interesting film- and videoprogrammes for a tour in non profit cinemas, galleries and other venues.
The compilation presents less a Best of... but it shows the rich spectrum of recent film and videoproduction in the field of experimental and avant-gardistic media. The selection ranges from formal, structural based concepts to developments in new narrative forms as well to the creative shift via electronic tools.
The filmprogramme contains besides classical experimental works with structural impacts and assembled found-footage films which use different kinds of techniques to tell stories In non-linear courses.
The videoprogramme unites international works by mostly young yet unknown artists from Argentina to New Zealand and offers a comprehensive glimpse into the diverse approaches of the current media-arts landscape.
The films are available as 16mm prints, the videos are edited on Beta, S-VHS or U-matic low band tapes. You can hire each programme for DM 250.- plus 7% EU Tax. If you want somebody of the festival or a film- or videomaker to accompany the screenings you have to add the costs for travel and accommodation.
The artists and the festival would be happy if your venue would be part of the tour.
