Matroos (Sailor)

A teenager adores his Sailor friend. He dreams about the exotic countries, marvellous starry skies and the inevitable homesickness that would bring his friend back to him. In a colourful series of mythical, referential images, his fragile dreams get so unreal, that the enthusiasm for seeing back his friend turns into aniousness.
Refering to Pierre et Gilles, Jim Bigood, Kenneth Anger, Jean Genet and Fassbinder at once, Matroos brings together archetypes, myths and imagery, both celebrating and questioning the sad but comforting beauty of gay iconography.
