Ein Student der Großen Midwestern University erhält eine ungewöhnliche e-mail-Botschaft im Logic-Lab. Die Mitteilung betrifft das Wesen der Zeit, den Tango-Sänger Carlos Gardel, den Humoristen Will Rogers und schließt ein Angebot ein, die Route 66 im Netz zu befahren. Jorge Luis Borges sagt uns: "Die Realität bevorzugt Symmetrien und leichte Anachronismen". A Refutation of Time schafft für vorsichtige Internet-Reisende, die glauben könnten, ihre Fähigkeiten zu verlieren, etwas Abwechslung. Dan Boord, Greg Durbin und Luis Valdovino haben jedoch einen informellen Trugschluß konstruiert, der beweist, daß das Reale das Irrationale ist.
Inzwischen wandert Borges Meditation über die Zeit durch das World-Wide-Web. Es stellt sich heraus, daß der Autor von Don Quixote "Flaco" Jimenez ist und Argentinien eine Web-Seite hat, die sich berühmter Leute rühmt, auf die "Argentinien nicht immer stolz ist, die aber dennoch berühmt sind".

A student from a large Midwestern University receives an unusual e-mail message in the Logic Lab. The communication concerns the nature of time, the tango singer Carlos Gardel, the humorist Will Rogers and contains an offer to cruise Route 66 on the Web. Jorge Luis Borges tells us, "Reality favors symmetries and slight anachronisms." A Refutation of Time provides some relief for wary inter-net travelers who might believe that they are loosing their faculties. However, Dan Boord, Greg Durbin, and Luis Valdovino have constructed an informal fallacy which proves the Real is the Irrational.
Meanwhile, Borges' meditation on time is found wandering the World Wide Web. The Author of Don Quixote turns out to be "Flaco" Jimenez, and Argentina has a web site that boasts of famous people that, "Argentina is not always proud of, but are famous nonetheless."
