Meine letzten 16 mm Filme sind ein Film-Manifest und Experiment, das bewußt mit einfachsten Mitteln arbeitet. Die Ausgangsbasis und ein immer wiederkehrendes Motiv von ›Joyce in Preussen‹, dem ersten 16 mm Film, ist die Nachstellung des Gemäldes von Marie-Guillemine Benoist ›Portrait einer Negerin‹ von 1800 und eine Art archaischer Urfrau, die Assoziationen an eine wild gewordene Venus, Kali-Göttin oder Baubo hervorruft. Diese ›Göttin‹ lässt sich trotz ihrer Nacktheit nicht konsumieren und verweist nicht auf ein Produkt das wir kaufen sollen, sondern ist ein Versuch mit Geschichte, dem Körper und den Urquellen der Kreativität anders umzugehen.

Description:
The last 16 mm films I made are a film manifesto and an experiment that consciously works with the simplest of means. The starting point and recurring subject of ›Joyce in Preussen‹, the first 16 mm film, is the reconstruction of Marie-Guillemine Benoist's 1800 painting ›Portrait of a Negress‹ and a kind of archaic prehistoric woman who gives rise to associations to Venus, Kali or Baubo gone wild. Despite her nakedness, this ›goddess‹ cannot be consumed and, rather than point out a product to us that we should buy, she is an attempt to take a different approach towards history, the body and the primary sources of creativity.
