›The Stairway at St. Paul's‹ dokumentiert eine Performance von JEROEN OFFERMAN. Sie spielt mit der Idee, dass in
den 60ern und 70ern bestimmte Rock und Roll-Aufnahmen verdächtigt wurden, teuflische oder satanische Botschaften zu enthalten, wenn man sie rückwärts abspielte. Eines der bekanntesten Beispiele ist Led Zeppelins ›Stairway to Heaven‹. Offerman übte drei Monate, um das Lied und den Text perfekt rückwärts singen zu können. Danach ging er zur St. Paul's Cathedral in London, um vor den Treppen (stairway), zu singen. Das Video ist ein Live-Mitschnitt dieses Ereignisses, wird aber verkehrt herum abgespielt (vom Ende zum Anfang), so dass das Lied und seine Wörter wieder normal klingen.

>The Stairway at St. Paul's‹ documents a performance by JEROEN OFFERMAN. It plays with the notion that in the 60-ies and 70-ies certain rock 'n' roll recordings were supposed to contain hidden ›evil‹ or ›Satanic‹ messages when they were played backwards. One of the most famous examples is Led Zeppelin's ›Stairway to Heaven‹. Offerman practiced for three months to perfectly learn to sing this song and its words backwards. After that he went to St. Paul's Cathedral in London, a place frequently visited by tourists, to sing it in front of the stairway that lead up to the entrance. The video is a live-registration of this event but the tape is reversed (it plays from end to start) so that the song and its words sound normal again.
