Dieses Videoband wurde aus ca. 80 verschiedenen Einstellungen
aus Spiel- und Dokumentarfilmen zusammengesetzt, die Stadtarchitektur
aus New York zeigen. Fast alle dieser Filme versuchen,
mit pompöser Manhattan-Stadtlandschaft in wilden Kamerawinkeln
etwas Aufregendes in die Spielhandlung einfließen
zu lassen. Andere dieser kurzen Zoom- und Schwenkaufnahmen
hatten lediglich im Original die Funktion einer Überleitung, den
Zuschauer von einem Schauplatz zum nächsten zu befördern.
Nun treten diese Aufnahmen gegenseitig in einen Dialog und
bilden ein hybrides Zerrbild von New York City.
Description:
This video work is composed out of approx. 80 scenes from feature and
documentary films framing the architecture of New York City as a
backdrop. Almost all of these movies posses the attempt to stir excitement
into their stories by simply including the pompous Manhattan
cityscape featuring wild camera angles. Others of these short
zoom shots and pans, that were originally intended to indicate a location
change in the film narrative , are now juxtaposed with each other.
They are entering into a dialogue that results in a hybrid, distorted image
of New York City.
