In Linda Wallaces Video geht es um das Auftauchen neuer Interaktionsräume, neuer Technologien und neuer Formen von Verlangen. Es ist das Haus ohne Mauern oder die fließende Raum-Zeit einer spektralen Ausstrahlung, die durch die Zwischenräume zwischen den Bildern schleicht, zwischen Wörten und Bildern, und sich so unserem Erkennungsvermögen entzieht, uns aber mit dem Gefühl zurücklässt, dass das, was wir sehen, eine verzerrte Dissimulation von etwas Neuem ist. Es ist eine Zone der Möglichkeiten, in der losgelöstes Verlangen und neue Vektoren der Kommunikation einen Raum für die widernatürliche Erweckung der alltäglichen Marionetten strukturiert, die in diese Sphäre einbrechen. Das Problem, das sich Lovehotel selbst stellt, besteht darin, diesen vergänglichen Ort fühlbar zu machen, der hier und da blitzartig auftaucht und ein seltsames Empfinden von Verstörung zurücklässt. Dazu kommt ein Gefühl, dass das Neue in die Konventionen und Zeichensysteme des Alltags eingebrochen ist und diese verzerrt hat.

Description:
Linda Wallace´s video Lovehotel is about the emergence of new spaces of interaction, of new technologies and of new formations of desire. It is the house without edifices or the floating space-time of the spectral emanation that sneaks through the spaces between images, between words and images, escaping our cognition but leaving us with a sense that what we see is a distorted dissimulation of something new. It is a zone of potential in which unhinged desire and new vectors of communication fabricate a space for the perverse arousal of the workaday puppets who swerve into its domain. The problem Lovehotel gives itself is to render palpable this transient abode which bursts out here and there in flashes, leaving in its wake a strange feeling of distrubance and a sense that the new has slithered into and distorted the conventions and codes of everyday life.
