Presentation: "Gaza-Sderot: Life goes on"
Gaza is situated in Palestine, Sderot in Israel. Men, women and children live here under the constant threat of bombs, air attacks and blockades. But despite these difficult conditions, life goes on: people go to work, love and dream just like those anywhere else in the world.
For a period of two months, a clip each from Israel and Palestine were put online every day. The clips complemented one another, creating a comprehensive picture. This dual perspective is a main prerequisite for understanding the complex reality. When watching one of the videos, the other is always present on the screen, broadcasting in parallel. Day after day, everyday life in the two cities became tangible simultaneously, giving internet users initial, intuitive access to the topic. WHY INTERNET? Relations between the Israelis and Palestinians have now reached a blind alley from which they can only escape if citizens are allowed to have their say in public and communicate with one another. But precisely this is not a matter of course. For this reason, a »neutral space« is particularly important where anyone is able to bear witness to events and express their opinions. The internet is ideal for this purpose.
