exhibitions

This year, two extremely interesting and innovative exhibtions will be luring to the Stadtgalerie-Café and the tower Bürgergehorsam.

back2elements

In the “back2elements” exhibition of the Media Campus, visitors can intervene in some of the works, making them complete. The focus lies on the contrast between analogue, manual and purely digital techniques. Antiquated media, such as pinhole cameras and record players, crop up in unusual functions.

// 22 April to 10 May in the Stadtgalerie Café:
22 April 7.30 pm to 10 pm,
23 to 25 April 10 am to 22 pm,
26 April 10 am to 6 pm,

Große Maschinen bringen kleine zur Welt
Alexander Glandien / G / 2008

The naturalness of a pea meets the artificiality of a machine. Which depends on which? And what happens, if the circuit is interrupted?

Une Camera Traditionelle
Anne Euler / G / 2008
The function of a pinhole camera and its digital successor, the videocamera, as an answer to the question of the connection between different spaces, the inner and outer side, the seen and the being seen.

Line
Johanna Reich / G / 2008
The emergence of an element as basis of the disappearance of another. The environment is radically suppressed, radically changed. The illusion of the dissolution of the own self is created.

Ideal Audio
Alexander Glandien / G / 2008
The daily barcode replaces the vinyl of the old times. The playing moderemains, the analog turntable is turning as usual, just the digital sound is a new one.

User Guide to the Semiotics of the Kitchen
Selene States / G / 2007

Like playing on a keyboard, the viewer intervenes with the scenery and changes it as he likes. A hommage to Martha Rosler's "Semiotics of the Kitchen" and at the same time its stringent continuation.

 NO(W)HERE
Go Eun Im / NL /  2008

Space and time mediated in live-images from the here and the nowhere of transmission. A dissolution of the bounds of appearance and being, of the just passed and the right now.

der hund, der tritt die treppe krumm
Felix Thiele: "Kniffel"

Students from the University of the Arts Bremen will be presenting their exhibition “Der Hund, der tritt die Treppe krumm” in an old defence tower. The young artists experiment with sound, and combine their works with painted, drawn and filmed material. Some of their works were produced directly on site, and relate to the given space.

// 22 to 26 April in the tower Bürgergehorsam:
22 April 8-10 pm,
23 to 25 April 10 am to 10 pm,

26 April 10 am to 6 pm.
